RUZKA-REPUBLIKA NETWORK — Sanur has emerged as a revitalized hotspot for tourism and real estate, especially following its designation as a Special Economic Zone in late 2022 with a focus on tourism and health.
Major infrastructure projectsโsuch as Baliโs largest mall, a new international hospital, a yacht port, and an expanded beachfront promenadeโare drawing in waves of tourists and investors.
While local residents express valid concerns about preserving Sanurโs cultural identity and charm, many also recognize the clear benefits of these changes.
Beyond improved economic prospects, one undeniable upside is the growing availability of quality jobs closer to home.
"In the past, many of us had to travel farโsometimes to Kuta, Seminyak, or even fartherโfor work in tourism and hospitality," said Ketut, a Sanur local. "But now, with all the development happening right here in our own neighborhood, weโre finding opportunities much closer to home. Whether itโs in hotels, wellness centers, construction, or even the creative sector, itโs made a big difference. Weโre spending less time commuting and more time with our families, and the community feels stronger because of it."
These large-scale projects have already generated hundreds of direct and indirect jobsโcontributing to more inclusive and sustainable local growth.
Between 2023 and 2024, Sanur saw a notable rise in tourist arrivals and hotel occupancy-highlighting its growing appeal as a coastal destination.
According to the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics, the island welcomed a record-breaking 6.3 million international arrivals in 2024, marking a 20.21% increase over 2023. Mid-2024 figures also show hotel occupancy in the Sanur area reaching 85โ90%, reflecting robust demand and a tightly booked market.
This momentum continues to boost investor confidence and catalyze economic activity across the region.
Among the standout projects is Magnum Resort Sanur, a flagship development by Magnum Estate International.

Located on one of the last oceanfront plots in Sanur, this four-story luxury resort features 1โ3 bedroom residences equipped with smart-home systems, Jacuzzis, and panoramic views of the ocean and Mount Agung.
The 8,000mยฒ property also includes a beach lounge, rooftop lounge, cafรฉ, spa, fitness and yoga studio, coworking space, underground parking, and private yacht acces robust demand and a tightly booked market.
Contrary to circulating rumors, the project has not been abandoned. While recent delays have sparked online speculation, these claims are unfounded.
โWe temporarily paused developmentโnot due to abandonment, but due to some adjustment needed between structure, MEP, and architectural drawing,โ said Charles, Director of PT. Indonesia Capital Sanur.
โThat adjustment process has now completed, and with expert teams on board, we anticipate construction resuming in the coming weeks.โ

Magnum Resort Sanur has also demonstrated full commitment to regulatory compliance. In April 2024, the project secured a key environmental recommendation from the Bali Forestry and Environmental Office (Dinas Kehutanan dan Lingkungan Hidup), followed by the official issuance of the AMDAL environmental permit by the Governor of Bali in March 2025.
โWeโre now in the final stages of securing the PBG construction permit, which is currently underway. With all regulatory obligations met, weโre ready to move forward in full compliance,โ Charles added. (***)
